Ways of Working
·
“Are you more UX or more UI?” It depends on who’s asking but I would say 50/50. To a branding or comms agency I am probably "more UX".
·
I do the things most UX designers would do when necessary (research, create wireframes, test etc.) but I also have vast UI experience.
·
I look to involve the product team and engineers in my thinking as early as possible.
·
I work into engineering cycles ensuring they receive designs as soon as possible that represent the scope of the project.
·
I will work with engineers throughout the build process and provide QA feedback before release.
·
If aspects of the designs need changing for technical reasons I am always keen to find a solution collaboratively.
·
I have experience building and working with Design Systems.
·
I try to use Figma for everything and keep my stack short.
·
I can produce brand-worthy assets but I’m not a Graphic Designer or an Illustrator.
Sketches to Final Designs
My sketches helped Audi UK assess value and scope, early in the project.
My wireframes for Sky & Comcast provided context and specification for the product team. The work was likely to take two quarters to build and so I reviewed this with all necessary stakeholders ASAP.
My final designs for Whereby were organised by release, user type and  user task to help engineers understand what they were building. I omitted anything that didn’t make the releases to set a clear scope for engineers.
An example of one of my final, pixel-perfect designs. These assets illustrate a high-quality user experience for engineers as well as providing internal and external communication possibilities for the business.
More final UI work.
